I’d like to introduce everyone to my personal eye doctor (and wife!), Dr. Shannon Soper!

So Dr. Soper has actually been working here since August of 2017, but she was originally only here on Fridays. In September of 2018, she started working at the clinic full time, first taking over a lot of the practice management, behind the scenes accounting and other administrative tasks my father had done by himself for 28 years.

So if you’d like to get to know Dr. Soper a little bit more before you come in to see her (and you should come see her, she’s great!), here’s a short little biography of her in my own words.

Dr. Soper was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. You might recognize that name as the city where the Rockford Peaches are from in the movie “A League of Their Own” or as the hometown of the band Cheap Trick!

Dr. Soper knew from a much younger age than I did that she would one day like to become an optometrist. After high school, she chose to attend Pacific University down in Forest Grove, OR after visiting the area and falling in love with the Pacific Northwest. She chose to major in Physics (and I honestly have no idea why she would do that to herself…) and did some research on contact lenses and optics during her senior year.

After she graduated with her BS in Physics, she started optometry school at Pacific University’s College of Optometry, where she met yours truly! Of course, I’m generally oblivious to many things and also was terrible with names at the time, so I couldn’t remember her name for around 3 months (In my defense there were 88 other students that I had to learn the names of too!).

That summer we both stayed down in Forest Grove and ended up spending a fair amount of time together. We started dating, got engaged in December of 2014, and married in June of 2016, 2 weeks after we graduated.

In her spare time, Dr. Soper loves going to musicals, movies, and plays. She loves to travel and see new parts of the country and the world, but loves living in the Pacific Northwest now most of all!

As things have changed over time at Mt. View EyeCare, we have changed the schedule around a little bit. Now Dr. Soper will be seeing patients full time on Mondays and Tuesdays, while I will be seeing patients on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays!

If you’re in need of your annual eye health examination, feel free to give us a call or even text us (yes, you can text us now too!) at 360-253-4405 to get your appointment scheduled today!
